In this article, you will understand the benefits of having a routine. But before you proceed with this article, let me ask you a few questions.
Do you procrastinate and feel lazy often?
Do you fall short of your time often?
Do you take the necessary short-term actions to achieve your goal?
If you have the above problems, you should stick to a routine and see the changes yourself. Most successful people stick to routine for a reason. Many factors contribute to their success, but routine also plays a significant role. Let's dive into the benefits of having a good routine.
Routine helps you achieve your goals.
If I ask you to make a routine for yourself, what will you put in the routine?
You will think about your goals and determine what actions are needed to achieve those goals in the long run. You will then set short-term goals to achieve those long-term goals. Ultimately, you will allocate sufficient time to complete those activities every day.
You can already see that just by making a routine, you have figured out your long-term and short-term goals and the time needed daily to crush them. Such is the power of a good routine.
Let's say you want to finish a book. If you block one hour of your time every day for reading it, you are more likely to finish it than reading it randomly. Try it if you aren't convinced.
Routine helps you beat procrastination.
Your brain is hard-wired to keep you away from discomfort and danger. It subconsciously pushes you towards comfort. That's why you have to make conscious efforts to get out of your comfort zone.
When you operate without routine, you have no clarity about your actions, goals and time. You rely on your subconscious mind and work whenever you feel like it. So, what will be the natural outcome? You will tend to procrastinate and postpone the tasks. When you have clarity about your tasks and the time required, you have more conscious power to avoid procrastination and get things done.
Routine helps you manage time.
You will find many people who complain about the lack of time to go to the gym. Most of them have enough time but are poor at time management. I say this because the same people have time to jerk off to the hub, watch Netflix and scroll social media. In reality, it is not a time issue but a priority issue.
A good routine can solve all your priority issues. You can think and plan your activities according to priority and put them in your routine. You can then analyse your free time, work time, entertainment time, etc., and adjust them per your needs.
Routine is good for your mental well-being.
A routine is nothing but a set of planned tasks. When you follow a routine, you complete one task after another. Every completed task makes you feel good. It gets you in the momentum to complete more tasks. In another way, routine gives you constant dopamine hits throughout the day and improves your mental state,
Routine helps you drop bad habits and form good ones.
A habit is a behaviour that is repeated regularly and becomes automatic, requiring no conscious thoughts. Habits are formed by repetition and reinforcement. When you follow a routine, you procrastinate less, manage your time and repeat certain behaviours regularly. The more you follow a routine, the more automatic the behaviour becomes. With time, you will drop your bad habits and develop the good ones.
That's it for this article. See you in the next one. Thank you for reading.
